At 20,320 feet, Mt. McKinley stands tall as the highest point in North America. Our first sight of
The Great One was impressive. But, we savored the moment even more when we later learned that few people are treated with a view of its peaks on a visit to Denali National Park.

There are no trails in Denali, so if you see a place that you want to go to, you strap your pack on and trudge through the tundra to get there. We camped inside the park for three nights, which only left us itching for more.

Tooling around, we did manage to cross a few more animals off our list. Caribou, Dall sheep and a bull moose . . . Check! No wolves, unfortunately, but we did have the very rare lynx cross the road just ahead of us. The event reminded Nathalie of our cat, Animal, and her eyes nearly teared up as she watched the little guy disappear into the spruce forest.

Hi Brooks
We met you on the Denali bus when you were flagging us down after your bull moose pictures. We were the family with the 12 year old boy frm Minneapolis. I am happy you got to see the elusive lynx and wanted to find an internet connection earlier to let you know that if you went to the Savage River Campground you could have seen one in the evening there. He comes into camp each night and my husband and son went looking for him about 10:30 and watched him hunt. They found that very cool.
The wolf also comes into the campground each nigt and you may have gotten some shots of one there. It looks like you are having a great trip. We are going into Homer today and will be stopping by the Crab Pot for lunch or dinner. We went salmon fishing yesterday and caught lots of salmon, so as my son said, his life is now complete. Have safe travels...... P.S. Love your dog Sierra pictures, it makes my homesick for my Samoyed Koda.
